HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS
Most properties within the Marine Village have a Berth Licence attached to their Property Title. This licence allows the Licensee to nominate one boat for the exclusive use of the berth. All marina berths in the waterway are owned by The Association and makeup part of the Common Area. Each year, as the GHMVRA Constitution states, the Association calculates the total costs of maintaining the berths and charges the Licencee a Berth Levy based on the length of their particular berth. See Berth Licence Terms and Conditions.

BERTH RENTALS
Should the Licencee not wish to use the berth they can rent the berth to another member of the Association or a member of the public by completing a Berth Sublicence Agreement (BSLA). The BSLA must be completed before the berth is occupied by the Sub Licensee as the Agreement has to be signed off by 4 people, the Licencee, the Sub-Licensee, The Licencee’s Body Corporate (if there is one) and the Association Chairperson.

The Association uses an online signing program making the process very easy to complete. Once the BSLA is completed the Sublicensee will be notified by the Facilities Manager that the boat may occupy the berth. The BSLA is valid for a maximum of 12 months, at which time the Licencee and Sublicencee can renegotiate their terms. Please note the Association is not involved with collecting rents or bonds and is only responsible for the Berth Sublicence to satisfy the GHMVRA Constitution. It is recommended that the Licensee produces a separate rental agreement with the Sublicensee that states the terms of the agreement including rental amounts, early termination etc.

To start the BSLA Process please contact the Facilities Manager at manager@ghmvra.co.nz

To view a Berth Sublicence Agreement (BSLA) including Terms and Conditions and Maintenance Guidelines please click here.

BERTH MODIFICATIONS
If a Licensee wishes to alter the berth, such as fit fenders, docking wheels, dinghy racks and the like, please complete a Berth Modification Form and send it to the Facilities Manager who will arrange for approval by the Waterways Subcommittee.

BOAT MAINTENANCE

The GHMVRA waterway is not a “Working Marina” however The Constitution allows boat owners to bring contractors to the site for minor maintenance repairs and servicing as set out in the document Maintenance Guidelines. For all other maintenance and repairs, there is a commercial hardstand at Gulf Harbour Marina.

It is the Berth Licensee's responsibility to ensure that his or his sublicensee’s contractors have completed the online induction and carry the required insurance.

Please note: Regular Contractors Liability Insurance does not cover a contractor working on boats over 6 metres in length. To work on boats over that length Ship Repairers Liability Insurance is mandatory.
